Craigdarroch Castle

Craigdarroch Castle is a beautifully restored Victorian-era Scottish Baronial mansion built between 1887 and 1890. The castle is now open to the public as a historic house museum and features an extensive art collection. On a hill overlooking Victoria, Craigdarroch Castle has 39 rooms over four floors, which feature stained-glass windows, intricate woodwork, and Victorian-era furnishings. The property is also attractive for the complex family dramas that once played out here courtesy of the feuding Dunsmuir clan. It was led by a Scottish coal-mining baron, Robert Dunsmuir, who died before the house was finished. You can climb the tower’s 87 steps for distant views of the Olympic Mountains.
