Overview
The Compact Hard Shell is a smaller ABS rooftop tent designed for two people plus gear or 2–3 sleepers when you need to keep the footprint tight. It opens into a full-length sleeping space while staying low and compact on the roof when closed. The rigid ABS shell, rip-stop canvas body, and integrated mattress make it a simple, all-in-one sleeping system for vehicles with limited roof space.
Protection and use
The tent uses a hard ABS shell as the top and base, giving the fabric, mattress, and bedding a solid housing on the road. Over the fabric body, a 420D polyester Oxford rainfly adds another waterproof layer (rated 2500 mm) and is treated for UV and mold resistance. The main body is 280 g rip-stop canvas, also rated to 2500 mm, so both shell and fabric are set up to handle repeated exposure to rain and sun.
By your rule, this model is treated as a four-season hard shell, assuming appropriate bedding for the climate.
Space and layout
Inside, the sleeping footprint is 152 x 210 cm (about 60 in x 83 in, roughly 5 ft x 6 ft 11 in). This is sized for 2 adultswith room for gear at the sides, or up to 2–3 people if you pack more densely.
A high-density foam mattress, 3 cm (about 1.2 in) thick, is included and comes with a waterproof, washable cover. The mattress gives a flat, continuous surface compared to sleeping on seats or cargo and stays inside the shell when you close the tent.
