Owning your own Roof Top Tent gives you the freedom to camp and travel wherever the road takes you. Having your own Roof Top Tent also provides unmatched opportunities for exploring off the beaten trail, and opens up new places to visit that few get to see. When compared to ground tents or RVs/trailers, our Rooftop Tents can be set up anywhere the road takes you. Booking a spot in a crowded campground is no longer a necessity, and unlike staying in a hotel, camping in your rooftop tent doesn’t mean having to keep your beloved pet at home or pay extra in cleaning fees.
At RoofTop Tents we love pets, and one of the best parts about spending time in the outdoors is sharing it with our friends and family – including the animal kind! Our Roof Top Tent products are perfect for accommodating your pet in safety and comfort. We’ve come up with several tips in order to make your next trip in a Roof Top Tent the best one yet for bot you and your beloved pet.
Bring Plenty of Water
Just like at home, you should always make sure your pet has access to clean drinking water whenever possible. Camping means plenty of physical activity for both you and your dog, and this can cause them to become dehydrated quickly. A good rule of thumb is whenever you feel thirsty, your dog probably does too! Make sure you account for the amount of water that your pet will drink when preparing for your trip – and bring even more water if travelling in the summertime.
Bring a Leash
Although the natural instinct for many of us is to let our dog roam around off-leash when away from other people, you should always bring a leash with you if you plan to bring your pet with you. There are times when it’s fine to have your dog off-leash of course, but having a leash (and preferably an adjustable one) helps keep your pet close at hand when you’re out and about. In same areas, predators like bears and coyotes can harm your dogs – keeping them on a leash helps to minimize the chance of these encounters.
Bring a Pet First Aid Kit
Overlanding and camping with a Roof Top Tent enables you to travel well away from more developed areas, and is one of the many popular aspects of owning one. However, this also means you may end up travelling a long way away from the nearest veterinarian. Just as we recommend bringing a first aid kit for any injuries you or your family might get when out exploring, we also recommend bringing a pet first aid kit as well.
